ben browton: sculpture (1995 - 1996)
My last official sculptural work took a more political turn. The main work empyramid was exhibited in “Travelling Light” at the Ausstellugsraum Klingental, Basel. This work was a large pyramid constructed from black plastic sheeting stretched over a wooden frame. It stood on a circle of Swiss turf. A sombre temporary tent, as in the kings at battle in mediaeval times, stubbornly encamped on foreign teritory. At the peak of empyramid was a small silver-gilded pyramid, which unwittingly echoed the nearby Matterhorn.
